EYE EXAMINATION

The Eye Examination is a vital health check that should be carried out at least once every two years no matter how old or young you maybe. Apart from ensuring that you are seeing well enough for everyday tasks such as driving and VDU work, it is also important to ensure that your eyes are healthy. Our aim is to provide a thorough, in depth eye examination, and our trained professionals will take as much time as is necessary to check the health of your eyes. At the end of the examination we will take the time to discuss your visual needs, and provide the best solutions for you. We examine all age groups include babies.

THE EYE EXAMINATION

Your Eye examination will take approximately 25 minutes and will be carried out by our qualified Optometrist who will be pleased to answer any questions that you might have.

At the start of the examination the Optometrist will discuss with you:

››

Any concerns that you may have concerning your eyes or your vision

››

Any symptoms that you are having

››

Your visual needs in relation to – Work, Hobbies or Lifestyle

During the examination the Optometrist will determine the general condition of your eyes. A full range of tests and procedures will be carried out which will include:

››

Your standard of vision both without spectacles and with any existing spectacles will be measured

››

Using a combination of instruments and lenses we will determine if an optical prescription is required

››

This result will be refined by asking you which lenses give you the best standard of vision

››

The way in which your eyes work together will be assessed

››

The examination of both the interior and exterior of the eye and the lids

››

If you are over the age of 40 the pressure inside the eye will be examined

››

Where necessary your field of vision will be checked

At the end of the examination when all the relevant tests have been completed the Optometrist will:

››

Explain the results of the examination and advise you on whether or not a new or changed prescription is required.

››

Advise you on appropriate spectacle and contact lenses for your individual requirements

››

Recommend when you should have your next examination

››

Answer any questions you may have

››

Issue you with a prescription for spectacles if these are required.

››

Complete any ocular reports you may require for your GP, employer or job application

Eye Examinations help to find certain eye conditions such as ›› Glaucoma and ›› Cataracts. We can improve your eyesight in the early stages and give expert advice on the latest treatment developments.

They can also aid in finding underlying systematic diseases such as ›› Diabetes and ›› High Blood Pressure. Regular eye examinations should be part of your normal health regime.

At Broomfield Opticians, we offer a comprehensive eye examination including screening and diagnostic tests and referrals for medical care if necessary. We aim that you have continuity of care so that you see the same Optometrist with every visit. This will help to build a great relationship between us making your visits to Broomfield Opticians as enjoyable as possible.

At Broomfield Opticians, if you experience troubles with your eyes, we always aim to solve the problem as quickly as possible and we will always try to accommodate you in an emergency.
